This week the children had their first computing lesson. They worked with a partner to give and follow directions. They then recorded their route and directions onto a sheet.
As part of our geography, lessons we took out learning outside. We went for a walk around our school and in the village, and we identified different physical and human features. We then labelled these features on a map.
The children in Year 1 have enjoyed spending time in our under the sea library area. During our time in the library area, they chose a book to share at home with their families. These will be changed every Monday in Freedman class and every Friday in Donaldson class.
This week, we had our final dance lesson in Year 1 with Katie. The children performed their dance which has been filmed and will be shared on our social media sites very soon.
On Friday, Freedman had their first gold learner badge! The children work hard showing the learning behaviours to earn house points and Amina is the first person to earn 300 house points and she received her gold learner badge in celebration assembly. Well done Amina!
In maths the children have been learning about fractions. As part of their learning they have been recognising and sorting fractions into halves and whole.

For our DT lesson this week, the children looked at different fruit and vegetables. They choose two and compared them explaining what is the same and what is different about their fruit and vegetables. They also learned to prepare the fruit and vegetables and lots of children enjoyed trying them.
On Tuesday, the children enjoyed a picnic lunch with all of their friends to celebrate the Queen's jubilee. The rainy weather meant we had to have our lunch in the hall. The children also had a photograph, sang some songs and have completed lots of different activities to celebrate her jubilee...
This week in maths the children have continued to learn about length and height. They worked in small groups to measure the length of different objects using cubes, paper clips and sticks.
