eSafety
We fully embrace children using the online world to support their learning. There are many positive aspects to children going online but it is imperative that children know how to do it safely and what they should do if they feel unsafe.
Keeping safe and behaving appropriately online is covered in depth as part of our Computing and PSHE curriculum. We have displays and hold regular assemblies and awareness days throughout the school year to raise awareness of online safety for both children and parents.
We also encourage parents to keep up to date with the latest developments, advice and support for keeping our children safe whilst they're online by using the NSPCC net-aware.org.uk website.
Below are links to pages that support the most frequent concerns that parents raised during our most recent eSafety parent meeting.
Talking about online safety.
Agreeing what you and your child do online is a great way to start talking about online safety. That’s why we recommend using a family agreement. Together you can decide what’s good to do online and what you should look out for. Once you’re both happy, why not stick it on the fridge as a reminder? You can also come back to it regularly to see if it’s still working. You can access the family agreement through this family agreement link.
The 'parent vs kid' fun challenge is a good way to learn (or show off what you already know) about the online world. When clicking on the link below, you will need to scroll to the bottom of the page to take the quiz...

Understanding the Apps that children are accessing and how to use them safely.
The Net Aware Social media, Apps and games area has a list of all of the different social media, apps, and games that children use. It explains what children use the App for, the age limits, how to amend privacy settings and use it safely, as well as a guide to the risks that may be associated.
The in the news section keeps you up to date with the latest news and developments of the social media, Apps and websites children like to use.
Use of mobile phones.
When, as a parent, you decide the time is right for your child to have their first phone, there are a few things you can do to help them stay safe. The my child's first phone link has advice and tips.
We can only be successful in keeping children safe online if staff and parents work together to ensure the message is consistent. It is important that adults speak to their children about how they can keep safe, teach them how to behave appropriately online, set rules and deal with bad behaviour. If you have any concerns regarding eSafety, please see your child's class teacher or member of the school's leadership team so that we can offer advice or address any incident.
